Analysts, who are hardly ever wrong, are saying that come June Apple is going to announce new iPhones that not only have new features but are cheaper, as well. Analysts are traditionally reliable on these sorts of matters and there is plenty of evidence that Apple’s new iPhone will indeed be cheaper, perhaps even free. Oh wait a moment, I had that confused. No, actually, these are just the idle musings of a Morgan Stanley analyst and there is no evidence that these things will come to pass in June. Sorry about that! [Apple Insider]

It’s not an OS update like we were hoping, but BlackBerry has taken the lid off its freeEnterprise Server Express software which syncs the smartphones to Microsoft Exchange and Windows Small Business Servers.

It’s a less-whizzy (ie, free) version of BES for small businesses or individuals who don’t want to fork out for the full service. It’ll still wirelessly synchronize email, calendar, contacts, notes and tasks, allow for edits of Word, Excel and PowerPoint files and access files on the business network, which should be enough for the average user. Out in March.

The new BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone is now available in Bermuda from M3 Wireless and Research In Motion.

Lloyd Fray, CEO of M3 Wireless, said the phone is “an impressive handset that will certainly appeal to business users as well as consumers”.

He added: “M3 Wireless customers can take full advantage of our 3G network to get the most out of their new smartphone”.

It’s no secret that Research in Motion has been working on their own Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones client for some time now. Word of it has popped up on the blogs a few times now and we’ve seen it make tweets and it has even been mentioned at recent BlackBerry launch events. Twitter users will be happy to know that today Twitter for BlackBerry has taken a big step closer to becoming a reality for users out there has RIM has announced it in beta form and made it avaliable for invite-only download from blackberry.com/twitterdownload. And you can sign up to receive updates from RIM on the availability of the Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones atblackberry.com/twitter. Right now, the invite-only beta is available in six languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese and it’s looking like the beta should last “around a month” after which I can only imagine it will soon become available to everyone.

Nokia’s already tipped its hand for the year Twenty Ten by publicly stating its intent to deliver a sleeker, more attractive, and faster Symbian UI; fewer nags; and at least one Maemo handset before the year is done. First up is a new naming convention, something already telegraphed by Nokia’s Xseries launch and Cseries trademark. According to the French language site, Nokia will end the use of monikers like XpressMusic or Classic as it simplifies around the following five ranges:

• C: voice-centric handsets.
• X: targeting youth, entertainment.
• E: business focused.
• N: high-end.
• S: limited editions.
