New BlackBerry Curve the latest toy to hit BDA

It’ll be a must-have for businesspeople and techno-geeks across the island.

Digicel unveiled the new BlackBerry Curve, the latest hand-held multimedia phone in the line of devices created by the Canadian firm Research in Motion (RIM).

The Curve is the smallest and lightest of all BlackBerry models, and features a full keyboard, e-mail and Internet browser, a track ball, 2 mega pixel camera, MP3 and movie player.

“It’s a marriage between the Pearl and the 8800 models,” said RIM carrier Marketing Specialist Katie Kollee.

And unlike the iPhone – which may not arrive on the island until 2009 – Bermuda is the first of 22 countries to offer the Curve.

“We are pleased to now offer the BlackBerry Curve as part of our family of BlackBerry smartphones,” said David Hunter, general manager for Digicel Bermuda.

“The Curve, with its powerful blend of communications, multimedia and web features in a small and lightweight design, will be a compelling mobile offer for both businesses and consumers,” he added.

The device will be in Digicel stores next week, and is expected to cost about as much as the BlackBerry Pearl.
